Who is Nasreddin Hodja?
Nasreddin Hodja was born in Hortu/Sivrihisar/Eskişehir. He began to live in Akşehir in 1237 after he completed his education in Konya. There is no available knowledge about his life except these. There are two opinions about his life. According to first opinion, he lived beginnings of the XV. Century, era of the Yıldırım Bayazit, Timur and Alaeddin VIII. According to second opinion, it is pointed out in Letaifname that he was contemporaneous with Poet Şeyyat Hamza. According to unproven claims Nasreddin Hodja took lessons with Hace-i Cihan from Hace-I Fakih. A gravestone dated 1284/1285 found is believed belonging to him. Taking into account these, it can be thought that Nasreddin Hodja and the sultan of Seljuk Alaeddin II lived same era.
