The Works of Mevlana, Maktubat

Mawlana's Maktubat was formed of his hundred and fifty letters written to various people in that time. As was the case with his other works, Mawlana embellished his letters with the verses from the Qur'an, and the prophetic traditions, stories and poems. These letter could be generally divided into three parts. First, those which were written in the form of advice to the statesmen to encourage them to do good works. Second, those letters of favor written for the purpose of helping people materially and spiritually. Finally, the letters were written as a response to religious questions about which he has been asked. All these letters have been translated into Turkish by Abdulbaki Gölpinarli.
